Every photo here is a TopWash job in Toowoomba or the surrounding Downs, taken by the person holding the lance. Roofs, house washing, sheds, tanks, driveways, gutters, windows and commercial premises. No stock photography and no one else's work.

How to read these photos

Green or black film on a wall is mould and algae, not dirt. It has a root system in the paint or render, so blasting it only removes the top layer and it comes back. Render, paint, weatherboard and Colorbond get soft washed instead, at about garden-hose pressure, with a treatment that kills the growth rather than stripping the surface.

Roofs behave differently, and it is worth knowing before you look at the roof shots. Grey-green crust is lichen, bonded into the tile or the sheet. The wash kills it on the day, but the dead crust weathers off over the following weeks, so a roof photographed the same afternoon will not always look as dramatic as a wall does.

Hard surfaces are the opposite. Concrete, pavers and brickwork take high pressure and a surface cleaner, and they do look right the same day. Streaky glass is usually mineral film rather than grime, which is a different job again.
