Hodgson Vale is a rural-residential locality about 13km south-south-west of the CBD, on high ground around 590m. It takes its name from Sir Arthur Hodgson, who took up the Eton Vale run in 1840, and its school ran from 1906 to 1960.
Hodgson Creek runs south-west through the area toward the Condamine, and the New England Highway passes through. About 1,440 people live across nearly 26 square kilometres of larger blocks and acreage.
