Gowrie Junction is a rural locality about 12km northwest of the Toowoomba CBD. It takes its name from the old Gowrie pastoral station and from the railway junction between the Southern and Western lines that operated here from 1871 to 1915; St John's Anglican dates from 1882. It has grown steadily to about 2,240 residents over 26 square kilometres, and the Second Range Crossing now runs through the south. Larger blocks mean sheds, tanks and long drives are often part of the job.
