Meringandan is a northern locality northwest of Highfields, drained by Meringandan Creek, running from compact residential lots to sprawling rural properties. The soil varies across it — black cracking clay through much of the district, lighter ground on the rises — and that variation shapes everything we do here.
Meringandan's name is said to come from Aboriginal words for fire and clay — a fair description of the ground — and the district has been farmed since German settlers arrived in the 1870s, with the railway following in 1883. Today it's Toowoomba's lifestyle-acreage belt, with most blocks running from half an acre up, just past Highfields.

Green or black film on the south and east walls is mould, not dirt — it needs a treatment, not a blast. Grey-green crust on the roof is lichen, bonded into the tile. Water spilling over a gutter edge is going into the fascia. A driveway that has changed colour is this ground at work. Streaky glass is mineral film. A solar array quietly making less than it used to is usually just soiled.
